CYTOKINESIS

Our primary goal is to understand the fundamental process of cytokinesis; in particular we are interested in the signaling components responsible for the late phases of cytokinesis. We have been studying genes required for cytokinesis, and are using light and correlative electron microscopy to identify essential players and ultrastructure responsible for the cytokinetic furrows.

CLEAVAGE PLANE SPECIFICATION IN POLARITY

Our primary goal is to understand how the orientation of cleavage planes is determined in polarized cells. We have been studying genes that are involved in the formation, duplication and positioning of centrosomes in order to obtain deeper insights into the mechanisms which specify cleavage plane orientation.
